Ever feel that you spend too much time shoring up the performance of some of your people? More time with one or two than with some of the others. And doesn't that just drain you? So think about those employees and how they are draining you and damaging the energy you have. The energy that could well be directed much more productively. There are people in your business who just seem to be way off where you want them to be. They are behaving as they are and it's perfectly their right to be the way they are. But not in your business. If it doesn't fit what you want, then you have two options (apart from just tolerating it, which I'm sure you don't want to do):-
And just think about what you will do with the time! One of my clients, when asked to note the people who wasted his time in one week found that one person alone accounted for 30% of his time! The boss yelled, "Get me a good lawyer but not the one with two hands!""Huh?" secretary was puzzled.Boss continued "...I mean don't give me a lawyer that says 'on one hand, we should do....and this. It was cold and dark and I'd been in bed for just a half hour when the phone rang."Alarm Centre here, are you the keyholder at Balham Store, in a lively(!) south London suburb. Grumpily, I replied in the affirmative. My wife didn't even stir."The alarm has gone off and will need your attendance - when will you be there?" I told them that it would take me 40 minutes or so. The 45 miles through the empty streets would not take the 90 minutes typical during the morning and e… 3. Delegation Obstructions By Andrew E. Schwartz OBSTRUCTIONS: 1. Staff deficiencies. Lack of confidence in employees quite understandably leads to a reluctance to delegate. When deficiencies exist, action must be taken to restructure jobs and/or retrain, reassign, or as a last resort terminate employees. 2. Management deficiencies. Intimidation or lack of organization on the manager’s part makes effective delegation impossible. In such a case, it is the manager’s responsibility to seek training in the delegation process via seminars, self-h… 4. Building A Practice On Purpose Series Part #1 - Blueprint For Building A Practice On Purpose By Brad Swift Have you ever seen a skyscraper being built? If so, you know that for the first several weeks or months, very little appears to be happening, at least above ground. That's because the initial work is focused on building a solid foundation. The higher the skyscraper is designed to be, the more solid the foundation needs to be to support all those stories. The foundation of a Practice On Purpose is what I refer to as "Clarity of Purpose," which includes all the components under the ==== line i… |
