Portland, OR: Hollander Consultants Florida Symposium is poised to break attendance records over the last three years of Hollander symposia. The Hollander Consultants Florida Symposium will be held at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort in Clearwater Beach from March 17 to March 19.

Eric Korb, Hollander Consultants’ vice-president for client services, said, “Our symposia are absolutely vital aspects of our entire consulting program. Clients who attend find marked changes in their practices and businesses that result in increased staff efficiency and revenue. Our clients’ staff always come together as a team due to the group training and interaction.”

“The Florida Symposium is one of the linchpins of our company. This is one more opportunity to really help our clients do better and achieve their professional goals,” said Fred King, CEO of Hollander Consultants.

Some of the key topics that will be discussed at this year’s Florida symposium include Hiring, Leadership, Marketing, Organizational Stability, Achieving Financial Success, and Working as a Team.

1. The “Better Product” fallacy By Arvind Kumar
Another fallacy ingrained in the minds of most marketing managers is the belief that the better product will win the marketing battle.Behind the thinking of many marketing managers is the thought that “truth will out.”In other words, if you have the “facts” on your side, it’s only necessary to find a good advertising agency who can communicate those facts to the prospect and a good sales force that can close the sale.We call this approach “inside-out thinking”- that somehow the advertising age…

2. Communicating CEOs By Robert Abbott
I see a PR firm has done a survey on the amount of time Canadian CEOs spend on communication, and found they spend almost half of their time on communication.I think we're supposed to be impressed that CEOs spend that much time on communication. But, quite frankly, what else does a CEO do? And, if you consider both direct and indirect communication, wouldn't that be more like 90%?So, what do CEOs do, and how much of that involves communication of one kind or another?Well, they make decisions. …

Many of you in the distribution industry are still wondering how much more change and future technology will impact your company. Will major producers, large chains and group alliances use the net as a weapon to replace you, the small to medium size manufacturer? Will you become road kill consumed by the vultures of platform roll-ups? Or perhaps the Internet will administer a slow, withering death, painful and extended.Forget it. Banish that thought. Many managers bypass the step of getting agreement because they assume that an employee views the problem in the same way that they do. However, that is often not the case, especially when the performance problem is a pattern of behavior rather than a single event. People generally do things that they perceive to be in their own best intere…
